Bubba Burger is a familiar name in the meat aisles of America’s supermarkets. What people may not know, however, is that the company has ventured into the realm of vegan-friendly eats.

Bubba’s veggie burger launched just a few months ago, and it includes ingredients like flax seed, black beans, edamame and even diced apples. Thus far, the new product is mainly available in the Northeast (though customers can search for store locations via the Bubba website).

“We have been working on a veggie for quite a while but couldn’t get the formulation right. We really wanted something unique and that contained whole vegetables, not a meat substitute type of veggie burger, but a REAL veggie burger,” says Elizabeth Cordell, marketing manager for Hickory Foods (parent company to Bubba Burger).

The burger’s ingredients include: Black Beans, Rolled Oats, Water, Brown Flax Seed, Potato Starch, Diced Celery, Diced Green Bell Pepper, Diced Apples, Diced Carrots, Broccoli, Corn, Potato Flakes, Edamame (Soy), Green Peas, Savory Flavor [Vegetables (Carrots, Celery, Onion), Yeast Extract, Maltodextrin, Sugar, Salt, Canola Oil, Dried Potato, Turmeric, Natural Flavor]. Contains 2% or less of the following: Distilled Vinegar, Water, Mustard Seed, White Wine, Citric Acid, Tartaric Acid, Spices, Garlic, Parsley, Basil, Chives, Tomato Paste, Sea Salt, Potassium Chloride, Onion Powder. Contains: Soy

“The feedback has been amazing!” Cordell adds. “People really like the unique flavor and whole vegetables. They love that Bubba is expanding our product offering to include all consumers and not just meat eaters.”
