Mellow Mushroom Vegan Menu Now Available
Known for its 70s-themed, hippy-inspired attitude and killer pizza pies, Mellow Mushroom is also surprisingly vegan friendly. The rapidly expanding chain (which stretches from Utah to Virginia and has a heavy concentration throughout the Southeastern U.S.), recently introduced a special menu full of options for the plant-based patron.
“We’ve tried to make the process easier for ordering for different groups. For vegans we rolled out a vegan menu to all of our stores — it’s available to assist in the ordering process. It’s a different presentation to make the process easier,” says Steven Sams, digital content manager for the company.
By letting their server know they’re vegan, customers can dig into everything from house calzones to tempeh hoagies to build-your-own pizzas. The chain’s pizza and calzone dough is vegan, and Daiya non-dairy cheese can be subbed out in any dish.
The company just opened a franchise in Miami as of February, followed soon thereafter by another new outpost in Coralville, Iowa. Clearly, they’re on a roll.
Some of the stores have physical copies, so feel free to ask. Otherwise the Mellow Mushroom vegan menu is available online, so you can check out your options in advance. Or, just ask your friendly server for suggestions. In addition, the company offers a nutrition calculator on its website that allows you to sort by dietary preference.
“You can go there and select animal products if you’re vegan or meat if you’re vegetarian, and the menu will populate,” Sams adds. That way you can look at everything you could possibly order and the nutrition values.”
What more could you ask for in a vegan-friendly pizzeria?
