Kite Hill Releases Cultured, Almond Milk Yogurt Line

Screen Shot 2015-09-23 at 4.20.09 PMKite Hill, maker of delicious artisanal, almond milk cheeses and pastas, has now expanded into the yogurt space.

The company, which sells exclusively at Whole Foods, just released a cultured yogurt line featuring five flavors: plain, blueberry, peach, strawberry, and vanilla.

The company describes the almond milk yogurt (which runs between $1.79 and $1.99 per cup) as having “a custardy texture and cultured tang.”

The almond milk yogurt is made with live probiotic cultures including S. Thermophilus, L.Bulgaricus, L.Acidopholus, and Bifidobacteria. Plus, the yogurts are free from preservatives and artificial colors, and they’re already on store shelves — so you can go out and grab some rightthisminute.

So why did Kite Hill decide to get into the yogurt game?

“Yogurt is a $40B+ category globally, and there really aren’t any non-dairy yogurts that offer the taste and texture that is so essential to traditionally cultured yogurt,” Matthew Sade, Kite Hill CEO tells LatestVeganNews.com. “Much as we have done with artisanal cheese and cream cheese-style spreads, we felt that it was finally time for someone to offer a great tasting, plant-based option. People shouldn’t have to compromise on taste when eating plant-based foods, and it’s our mission at Kite Hill to ensure that people don’t have to.”

The company is also making with a couple of other new products: a seasonal pumpkin tart (YUM, $11.99 each), and a single-serve cheesecake ($5.49 each). They’ll be on Whole Foods store shelves in October.

One bite of Kite Hill yogurt and I’m in heaven. Yogurt was one dairy product I really missed. After trying other vegan yogurts and being thoroughly disappointed, I’m really happy to have tried this one. Now, if they could only make it available in other markets…
